Server Hosting Solutions
From Multiverse
We are often asked about server hosting solutions. While Multiverse's technology enables you to run the servers on your own hardware, some people don't want to do that. And when it comes time to roll out your gameworld for "live" production release, you probably want a highly reliable hosting solution. This page lists some options to consider.

OGSI
If you want top-of-the-line performance and service, use OGSI. They are a Multiverse partner, and specialize in dedicated, high-reliability hosting solutions. OGSI offers robust, highly competitive hosting and services tailored to the needs of the online game industry in the US. Their mission is to provide multiplayer gaming systems and services that exceed expectations at a fraction of the usual cost and risk.
Amazon Compute Cloud
If you want an economical solution for development and evaluation purposes, you might try the Amazon Compute Cloud. It has been tested with Multiverse servers and it works fine for development purposes. It is not likely to be sufficient for live production games, however.
Note: as of version 1.0, you must edit the multiverse.sh server file to increase the first sleep to 20 seconds. This will likely be fixed in the next release. This is because the amazon servers are a bit slower and manifest a race condition.

IPOWER
From a forum post from June, 2007:
- We have done a lot of research into a place to host our site and game and decided to go with IPOWER. What first made a big impression is that you talk to a person not just a recording. Second they have many ways to setup your account and are happy to work with you from Domain Registration and site to Virtual server for your game to Dedicated server when you are ready.

Bluehost
NOTE: Bluehost is recommended for web hosting ONLY, not for hosting Multiverse servers. They use shared / virtual hosts, which do not have enough memory to run the Multiverse servers.
From a forum post from April, 2007.
- Bluehost.com is $100.00 per year BUT it gives you TONS of free add ons and NO banner ads. Project Management tools, Calendars, Databases, Forums, Guestbooks, Shopping carts, Payments systems, etc. I have been truly impressed with them thus far. I would say a lot of the back-end stuff makes up for the front-end cost.

- The Doomsberg team also uses Bluehost and we have been very very happy with the quality of the service provided. Also, if you sign up using this link: http://www.bluehost.com/track/doomsberg/mvdevs then you can help another MV dev through their affiliates program.
