Forgotten Legends - The story behind the game
12 Years ago:
The races that inhabit the planet Pagon have been in an age of relative peace. The Human Kingdoms have maintained control over most of the world, and their enemies the Magi appear to have stopped their attacks. The allies of the Humans, the Shiokin have been working closely with the Humans ensuring peace, and the Kulimi have been in hiding for the past 100 years. However, nothing could prepare the inhabitants of Pagon for what was about to occur.
A great blast appeared high in the sky. It looked like something exploded into great ball of fire. Within minutes an abrupt meteor storm arrived on Pagon. The Human Kingdom Tithon and the whole northern hemisphere of Pagon was struck by the force of this meteor storm. But this was no normal meteor storm. The huge fiery rocks that flew full force onto the rough terrain of Pagon were from the explosion of the nearby planet known as Noctus. The planet Noctus was said to have an errily energy about it, which had very strong presence in the meteors.
The energy from the meteors had a severe impact on the inhabitants of Pagon, and the land itself. The living creatures were twisted and mutated beyond recognition by the meteors. No creature could withstand the energy the meteors emitted, and soon even the Humans started to show mutations. It was not long until the affected Humans became unrecognisable, even to the other unaffected Humans.
The Human Kingdom Lydor was unscathed by the meteor storm, however, the effects were still more than obvious. Many of the Humans were repulsed by the mutated Humans, and it was not long before the king of Lydor, Arkiel, ordered that the mutated humans, must be scoured from the planet.
Not only did the horrific meteor storm mutate the Humans, but it transported the inhabitants of Noctus to Pagon. Pagons environment was very different to that of Noctus and many species from Noctus rapidly died out. However, the predominant species of Noctus, known as the Noctin, adapted very quickly, and soon began to rebuild their civilisation. The Noctin spread over the north of the eastern continent within a few months creating settlements in many locations. As a result of the rapid expansion it was not long before the Shiokin discovered the existance of the Noctin on Pagon.
Meanwhile, the mutated Humans banded together and started a new life. The once friendly humans threw away everything they followed and became a barbaric race. These revolutionised mutants named themselves the Mutine. Some of the wiser Mutine noticed that there was a glow around some of the meteor rocks and started studying them relentlessly. There was some power in the rocks which drew them in. Some power that could be utilised as a weapon against their enemies.
It was not long until the Mutine uncovered the power of the energite rocks in the meteors. Refined, the energite could be used by any creature, enhancing their natural abilities ten-fold. The Mutine, equipped with this new power, fought back at the invading Humans, pushing them back out of their lands. The Mutine had no intention to attack the Human lands, as they hoped they would be left in peace by the Humans. However, the Humans were determined to destroy the hideous Mutine.
The Humans knew they could not defeat the Mutine alone without energite. Seeking the aid of their old allies, the Humans contacted the Shiokin for assistance. The Shiokin were already dealing with the Noctin, which meant little help could be given to the Humans. Getting desperate, the Humans sought an audience with the hidden Kulumi. The news of the arrival of the Noctin and the formation of the Mutine struck fear into the hearts of the Kulumi. The Kulumi knew they could not leave the Humans and the Shiokin alone to deal with these problems.
It was with the awakening of the Kulumi that the old alliance that once existed was reforged. For the first time in over 100 years the Kulumi, the Humans and the Shiokin stood together, working towards a common goal. The alliance of the three races was named The Pagos, as they were the defenders of Pagon from all that would seek to change it's current state. Reinforced as the power of three armies, The Pagos soon made it's presence known. Together, the armies of The Pagos pushed the Noctin back without effort. Soon the Noctin were forced right back onto the small Island of Gerunii just off the coast of the east continent. With the threat of the Noctin removed, The Pagos focused its attention on the Mutine.
News spread of the formation of The Pagos and the attack on the Noctin. The Mutine feared that the Humans would return along with the rest of The Pagos to attack again. Preparing for the worst, the Mutine gathered as much energite as they could and created great defensive weapons. At the same time, a Mutine messenger was sent to the Noctin capitol to seek an alliance. With time going against them, the Mutine knew that an alliance was the only option to prevent the destruction of their race.
The Noctin grabbed the offer of an alliance with both hands knowing that without it they will soon be finished off. Together the Noctin and Mutine armies were still not enough to resist the attacks of The Pagos. The Mutine knew of only one other race that could help them, which was the Magi. As expected, the Magi refused to ally with the Mutine, who as Humans, had been enemies of the Magi. However, the Mutine had something the Magi could not resist. The Mutine had excess energite, and they knew how to use it. As a trade, the Mutine offered the Magi the use of the energite, and the knowledge they had aquired. Of course the Magi could not refuse the opportunity to extend their magical abilities.
By the time The Pagos' armies had assembled, the Mutine - Noctin - Magi alliance had been forged. Standing together, the unlikely allies fought back at the invading armies of The Pagos. With the power of the energite on their side, this new alliance proved too much for the The Pagos alliance. Victorious in their first battle, this new allaince was finalised with the name The New Order.
However, it was not long until things started to go wrong for The New Order. The energite from the meteors had been absorbed by the planet, and now energite deposits were showing up in multiple locations around the planet. With the power of the energite in their hands, The Pagos have the ability to match the armies of The New Order.
Now, across much of the world, the armies of The Pagos and the New order clash. Every race fights for the survival of their people. United as two alliances, these races know they cannot give up the battle. But as both alliances charge blindly into battle for the energite and for their survival, evil forces are gathering where none have dared look.
